Chapter 6 - Something Wicked
Wolanin was raised, Xej found his way back (via helping an Archon defeat some evil creature and thus earning a trip home, a nice new ring, and a nice new shield that he gave to his apprentice Talice), and party continued on. They encountered some dead dwarves and went to give them a proper burial when an evil creature that was guarding them attacked. They killed it and buried the bodies. They then learned of the route to one of the locations they wished to "clean of evil" (and clean of treasure as well...) and traveled to a huge mountain beside a lake.
The entrance to the mountain was by crossing a submerged bridge (5 feet under the water) that stretched across the whole lake, running from some multiheaded creature in the water, and then jumping through a waterfall. Through the waterfall lay an entrance to a huge underground stronghold. Following the main entrance, goblins began raining down explosive packages from murder holes in the ceiling. Past three portcullis, and passwalling a stone doorway, they found themselves in an entrance hall of death. Arrow slits lined all walls and they were full of goblins with many arrows. A large stone golem provided the main battering. Wolanin broke one of his valuable swords on the beast before the PC's detected a secret door and ran for it.
Chapter 7 - No Rest for the Wicked
They hid inside for about an hour before goblins managed to force their way into the secret room and using magic, and explosives managed to harm the PC's considerably. The PC's opted to flee. Upon leaving through the waterfall, the injured PC's realized they would have to spend 20 minutes walking back across the bridge being attacked by heads from the water. The flying elf said he would ferry people across only if Elric let him carry 'the scroll'. Some party fighting started, where Ferras got involved and insisted that Elric just give the elf the scroll and then discuss it later. Elric began casting a spell, at which point Ferras threw a dagger (hilt first) to stop him. Before anything else could happen, the heads popped out of the water and attacked the party. After a valiant battle, and somehow avoiding to have ANYONE drowned (though 3 or 4 people came very close), the wet cold party tromped back across the lake where Elric set up a magical cabin that everyone huddled into for warmth. A few hours of rest occured before creatures attacked (winged owl bears and large creatures, plus a flying goblin mage) and after a quick battle, the PC's went back to sleep.
Chapter 8 - Uneasy Sleep
The PC's finally managed to get some sleep, but it was not restful. Ferras dreamed that the snake heads he was destroying were Torm's, and that he attacked and killed Elric. When he looked into the water he saw his face was not his own, but that of Meryllon's. He awoke with a fright to find that Elric had a bloody wound, and though it healed almost immediatly, the blood remained upon his clothes. Elric felt like he nearly died. The party lay back to sleep, but neither Elric nor Ferras got any more rest.
The PC's then started back to the bridge but were attacked by a flying human mage. They felt he was quite powerful, though they managed to force him to flee. The party made everyone invisible, as they snuck back to the goblin mountain. The flying elf ferried everyone across the lake, and Ferras helped everyone through the waterfall. Then the party snuck past the murderholes, and using illusions to cover up the passwall, managed to make it to the secret room undetected.
The PC's then continued to sneak through the mountain, invisible and mostly relying upon magic to hover around. Some time later, after descending a stairway, the PC's set off a trap by accident, that caused them to be detected and flee back a ways. They then moved away, and hid. Xej decided to send off many small eyes to scout, and when the eyes returned, the PC's planned to have a trap set up to take out anyone following them. They looked around for a place to ambush from, and were attacked by 3 rust monsters. Elric took out two with lightning bolt, and Ferras took out the other, narrowly avoiding having his beautiful armor turned to rust.
So, with Elric and Ferras visible, and everyone else invisible, the PC's set up an ambush and waited for the returning eyes...
Chapter 9 - Close Quarters
A clever ambush involving the elevator room, an illusion, and a silence spell resulted in the PC's luring around 60 goblins into a room, where they fell through the illusionary floor, down a 190' shaft to their death. It was going just fine, with the illusion covering for the falling goblins, when a bone shaman with an anti-magic shell came and ruined everything. Those at the bottom of the shaft fled to the secret room, where the battle ensued in earnest. A cloud kill did remarkably little damage, to the hordes in the hallway, and the party fled as three very strong goblins pushed their way into the secret room. The party fled out through the far hall, being chased by the enemy. The invisible party members split up from Xej, Elric, and Filex, followed by Ferras covering the escape. The visible party members ended up in the rust-monster room and Xej made a wall of stone to hide the 4 hero's. The rest of the party could observe the goblin ranks, formed up in the hallway, persuing, followed by the bone shaman.
Xej used a passwall to cut through to another room, but it made a gab in his wall of stone and the strong goblins began to make chase. Elric turned the first one in to a hippo, blocking that route for the others. The four visible members then fled back to the original ambush location. Here, they quickly played with some levers, before picking up a bunch of goblin grenades and heading down to a T junction. They hid here, making a fire, and waiting for the goblin ranks.
Meanwhile the party followed the formed up goblins all the way back to the ambush location. They then witnessed the four visible members emerge from the end of the hall. Goblin grenades landed amongst the goblin ranks, while the 3 strong goblins charged up to Ferras. Ferras tossed an enlarged grenade to them and it exploded amongst the three and Ferras.
The goblin ranks were obliterated by the grenades, and the two of the three strong ones were killed. Ferras finished him off with a dagger in the back as he tried to flee.
The PC's searched, found some more grenades, some treasure, and cleaned themselves up. Then, with the invisible ones scouting, they continued forward, after another argument about what to do. Their current destination was decided to be the quarries to rescue some dwarves (I wonder who made THAT decision...). They made it downstairs, and through a secret door, though were detected there. A few hallways later, with Xej pointing the way (with information gathered from his many flying eyeballs...) the scouts detected some goblins forming up. The informed the trailing members. Ferras attempted to light a grenade twice to charge forward, but the wick was removed, cut and then reinserted both times, as people attempted to argue quietness. Finally he agreed not to use a grenade, and instead charged around the corner towards the goblins. The battle was quick and messy. Xej was downed by some auto-firing crossbows, using clips of poisoned darts, but other than that, there were only Goblin causalties. It took less than 3 rounds to take out all the goblins. With the new "auto-firing crossbows" the party took a moment to rest before forging ahead.
