Chapter 10 - Would be Saviors
The party made it's way to the quarry, leaving 2 party members (Orhamm and that other guy) to spy upon a goblin gathering place. They arrived and slammed open the door. The invisible party members entered the room, while the others awaited the first curious victim. As a bug bear poked his head out the door, it was smashed in by the Paladin's two handed sword. The battle then began in earnest, as the party charged into the room.
An arrow slew the first bugbear, and the Paladin lept over the falling body to smash his sword into the next one, it's body being smashed into a pile of gore. A 12' tall ogre type creature entered the fight by chucking a hot molten rock at the Paladin, but before it could get off further attacks Wolanin appeared as his weapons bounced harmlessly off of it. It began to fight him. The battle spread but quickly the bugbears and goblins were slain by the party. The ogre, who had been casting spells and dealing heavy damage to Wolanin and Kory saw that he would soon be surrounded by 6 battle frenzied foes, including the two-handed sword wielding paladin, decided to flee, by drinking a potion and turning into gas, fleeing into the airways.
The party quickly helped the dwarves free, and asked them if they knew another way out of the mountain. They said yes, and began directing the party. The party made it to another room full of arrow slits, and paused. Here, Wolanin, Ferras, Kory, and Xej backtracked until they found a passage that most likely led to behind the arrow slits. The followed this until the made it to two rows of doors. The battle was quick and ugly, as the Paladin continued to slay goblins even though they tossed their crossbows away and could do nothing but stand and be killed. Wolanin's attempt to let a couple go free only resulted in more deadly poisoned arrows being shot at him, until Kory killed the offending creatures with daggers.
They made their way back to the dwarves, stopping at one point for Ferras to spot and attack the invisible brown robe boy who was watching them. The got the dwarves and continued through the arrow room to an exit hall, avoiding falling in any pit traps.
Meanwhile, the other two PC's saw a smoky ogre appear and inform the goblins of..something. They followed them to the deserted Quarry, and then the path the PC's followed.
As the party made it out of the arrow room, goblins began to pour in after them. They tossed grenade after grenade slaying dozens, as the fled up the passage. Then large boulders collapsed and blocked the exit. The PC's hid behind the rocks as the goblins advanced, firing arrows. The PC's were stuck, with no way out.
With no other options, the Paladin charged forward into the goblins and began his deadly work. The rest of the party charged as well. Another anti-magic shell caused problems, but the PC's fought valiantly until the goblin's were all dead. During the battle, Wolanin's arm was chopped off, as was 'that other guys'.
Chapter 11 - Goblin War
After resting for some time, the party continued to dig it's way out. At one point, realizing they were being scryed upon, they used the anti-magic body bit (a goblin had been enchanted with anti-magic shell, and they used what remained of his body) to repel the scrying. After finally making it through the wall of rubble, the party was about to continue on, when from behind them, the Ogre Mage and the Brown mage appeared. "Where do you think you're going?" The party turned and the Paladin approached. The mage caved in more tunnel, and then vanished. The Ogre smiled, waiting. Using the body bit as defense from the ogre's magic, the party attacked. The ogre, suddenly being overwhelmed, and unable to magically or physically flee (hallways too small), was cut down.
The party cleared away the new cave in, and continued on. Goblins were found slaughtering one another, as apparently their leadership was taken away. Soon no more goblins were found, as the party spent some time exploring much of the magical cavern.
Then they found their way to a large cavern that led past some magical goblin statues, into a huge room with a falling apart giant dwarven statue. The Paladin, strode forward and attempted to push over the four goblin statues. As he touched on, he turned to stone.
The rest of the party did lots of stuff here that I don't know about.
Chapter 12 - The Abomination
After freeing the paladin from stone by giving the dwarven axe to a true dwarf (who used the axes powers to free the paladin), the party returned to town to rest, before heading off to confront the evil abomination that's lair was through a portal in Redruken. (the dwarven stronghold) At the Inn Kory detected evil intent from two 'dwarves' and after the party killed them (they turned to sand upon death) they continued on to Redruken. They made it to the portal and journeyed through. They made their way through the tunnels until they found the evil creature. It attacked them, and their was a ferocious fight. The creature vanished under the ground, and the caves began to collapse. The party ran for their lives, needing to go help Wolanin ask his escape was blocked by a rock. Once through, the portal no longer worked.
They returned several stones with "dwarven souls inside" to a guardian that said they wanted to be within the stones.
That ends the chapter on Redruken, as the party decided to continue on their quest the next morning.
(I may also mention the PC's were considerably more wealthy after their experiences in Redruken, having found a lot of gold and gems...)
Chapter 13 - Insanity Rules
A weird chapter in the Keeper of the Realms history.
It started with morning gifts from the townsfolk, and a note from the brown mage promising revenge. Declining the offer to stay and party at the town in two days, the PC's hurried off towards Zhentil keep.
Elric was strange for this part of the trip, taking upon a goblin child as his to guard for a while, and in otherwise acting distant and aloof to the rest of the party. After finding the goblin, they tracked the other goblins off of the road into some mountain caves where the Paladin stopped short of finishing off a small group of them so that they could ask about the brown mage. Finding that the brown mage was apparently no longer with the goblins (and believing them), the PC's continued on their way to Zhentil keep.
The time passed quickly, with only a few strange looks and bitter words to the goblin child toting Elric. They arrived a few weeks later. About 500 meters out from Zhentil keep, they stopped to discuss what they were doing now...when they noticed several riders coming their way. The paladin strode forth, looking like he would be greeting them cordially. Suddenly he noticed they were Priests of Bane, and he drew his sword, demanding their surrender immediatly. (about a party of 4 priests, and about 10 initiates) The leader laughed and demand the paladin move. He demanded the surrender. Party members questioned Ferras's wits. Ferras looked flushed, and confused, but held his ground. There was a taught situation for some time, The Priests losing their fearlessness as Ferras spoke confidently about beating them all. Finally one of the initiates said they would never surrender, and Ferras attacked.
Ferras swung his sword into the leader, knocking him from his horse with a thunderous blow. The initiaties fled while the 4 priests began to prepare for battle. Two of them froze as a spell locked their limbs. The last two surrendered. Meanwhile, Filex fireballed one group of Initiates, killing them all, and he let the others go. Ferras ordered the leader the ground, and took him prisoner. The PC's fled with their prisoner in tow.
Back in camp, Wolanin suddenly attacked the prisoner, fearing the prisoner and thus attacking him. Ferras tried to defend him, but Wolanin was quick, and using two weapons. The prisoner was stabbed into a critical state at which time Wolanin's fear disappated.
Confused as to his won actions, Ferras left to pray, while the party discussed what to do with the prisoner.
In the Paladin's absence, the party fought over what to do with the prisoner, Elric going so far as to cast magic missiles at Filex to stop him from killing the evil priest. In the end Xej teleported the evil prist to Stamp's prisons.
That done, the party used invisiblity and flying to infiltrate the city, leaving Ferras and Talice outside. There they began to track down the apprentice of the powerful mage that they were seeking.
