Chapter 23 - The Letter
Stamp : You are awoken by a pounding at your door. The sun is not yet up, though the sky is getting lighter. You throw your sheets off and pull on some tunics, and answer the door. Jsor, your personal servant, is standing there, breathless. "This just came for you sir! It's from the council of Westgate..."
You take the scroll case from his hand, and break the seal. You pull out the soft papayrus, and begin reading.

Steven Obarskyr, I write to you because I honor your family, and I honor the kingdom that you ruled for so long. I write because I think you should know what is happening. It concerns me very much. First of all, you should know that your friends attended the Council of Toril, in Suzail, Cormyr. During those proceedings, something happened and they went north for a few days. When they returned, they had brought with them items, apparently from the gods. They went forth with quite a few powerful people, as well as two of the demi-gods that reside on Toril, Horus-Ra of Mulhorand, and Gilgeam of Unther. Their quest was to go to the some capital city of the Gyshin in Kara-Tur, and slay Fate, the Gyshin leader, also a demi-god. What happened there, few can say, but those that returned said that they saw Gilgeam of Unther be slain, and Horus-Ra took horrific wounds. A few others were also killed. But in the terrific battle, they were victorious, and the slew Fate. Your friends it is said, then followed the remains of Fate through a portal, for he wasn't completely defeated. For some reason, no others went. Well, that was 3 days ago. This morning, at 3:00am, all priests of the land could again reach their gods, thier priestly powers restored. Then, at 5:00am, major attacks from the Gyshin began at 23 different points around the alliance. The most powerful of which, was centered against Cormyr. Your land is at war Steven. We were told that Lyorn took his army to field only about half an hour ago. |

Chapter 24 - The Beruse Club
Kendrick : You make an awkward foray into the press of people, and get slammed around quite a bit by confused lizard men. But you manage to make your way through the main gates and into the city and from there you cut behind street vendors or such where you won't be walked into.
It's not long before you see your first humans. A group of 5 men walk through the crowd. Lizard men make way for them and give them room. They are chatting and laughing. Two of them wear some sort of armor, and have gleaming metal spear like weapons, somewhat like short polearms. The have colorful ribbons wrapped about them to make them look decorative. Another wears a full suit of gleaming bluish metal armor, and has a huge sword upon his back. The fifth man wears no armor at all, and dons a baggy pair of pants, and a loose puffy tunic, open about the chest. An amulet with an emerald inset in it glows upon his chest.
Since you have no other direction, you trail them for some time, until they get to a walled off building. Two human soldiers guard the gates, and above the gates in gold and red letters are the words, "The Beruse Club". As the strangers near the gates, they are opened and let in. You take a few quick steps and duck through as well. The gates are closed behind you. You find a large box to duck behind, apparently a shipment of some sort. (in case the guy with the amulet can see you) This seems to be somewhat of a small walled off estate. You see a garden, and a small pond where a couple people are swimming. You see a nice patio, people lounging about in skimpy clothing and drinking.
The people you followed head into the building that looks somewhat like a large Inn, made of sculpted peices of rock. On the second floor of this building you can see a porch of types, with tables, and you see people sitting around eating and talking.
This estate is quiet large, and it looks like it may extend for some ways behind the looming building. (the building is 4 stories tall). Everyone here at the club seems to be human, except for one lizard man servant who walks through a side door and comes out bearing drinks for some of the lounging people, and also a lizard man waiter upstairs.
You evesdrop on a few of the people. The people about the pond (which contains crystal clear water) who are lounging in the warm air seem to be talking about nothing. You hear conversations about the great food they had, the beautiful canyons that they saw from a cruise ship (?), the nice warm weather, a trip they're husband took hunting the local wildlife, and a few veiled comments about "the help", and something about a native festival that is supposed to be absolutely "horrid." but said in such a way that the woman doesn't seem to be that horrified. You are continually distracted by her guassy swimming suit that reveals most of her body.
From the pool, you can see the large back area of the estate, and you see a huge field dedicated to holding huge floating ships. They have crystal adornments about them, adn huge decorative sails. They are tied by ropes to large pillars in the ground, and rope ladders lead up to them. Here or there you see workers adjusting sails and such. As you watch, one of them hoists off their ropes and begins to hover higher into the air. Then it begins to accelerate by it's own power and banks away into the sky.

You go inside, hoping to hear something more useful. You notice that all of the servants are lizard people, and as you go upstairs, you find a room where many people sit about eating. You listen to conversation, and hear stories of great hunts of huge 6 legged beasts with mandibles that rip off the heads of it's prey, etc etc. You also hear some more discussion of the native ceremonies and festivals going on this week. Apparently something about a sacrifice. One guy seems upset about them sacrificing 'her', but the other says, 'it's there business, it's been done for hundreds of years, who are we?'....
That is all that you hear that is relevent. Though most people treat the lizard people very much as servants, hardly glancing at them to request things, holding out glasses and expecting them to be refilled (which they are) etc....
Chapter 25 - The Black Pyramid Part II
Xej : You let the mysterious doors of be, and begin looking for a good wall to pass through. Since you know the lower level is actually underground (from the collapsed parts, you could see natural rock behind the granite), you head up to the second level that you know of. You find a non-magical wall on the outside of your map. You focus your power, and your spell tunnels forward. It goes about 30 feet, and ends in an odd slant. You see it leads out to street level. There is about a 30 foot semi-empty stretch, before the vendors of a market place begins. (It is still Csili, you remember this market is on the south side of the black pyramid.)
You quickly walk out. It looks like noone has noticed the gaping whole in the base of the pyramid except a small boy. He speaking, pointing, and pulling at his mothers dress, but she's ignoring him. You dispel the passwall, and head off to your room.
A short nap later, and it's about noon. That's strange. You get up, and after asking about, you realize the sacrifices were yesterday, and that you probably woke up sometime around 4:00am this morning.
You head out into the city after a good rest and a long time memorizing. (it's evening now). You begin looking for information. You discover that literacy in the city is extremely low, and there is no such thing as a public library here.
Failing that, you begin asking questions. A few veiled questions about giants in the temple result in blank stares. You begin asking about the sacrifices, and suddenly everyone won't shut up. Ya, they're great. Priests offer two sacrifices a week (on the same night). The sacrificees are usually thieves or killers, though the odd virgin offers herself to the goddess (though usually they aren't killed, they vanish and are said to be with Sharaka in service to her. About once a month, the sacrifices are blessed by Sharaka's actual presence. Sometimes she appears as a beautiful woman, other times she appears in the form of a black bird.
You return to the temple late at night, and passwall again. You move into the tunnel and find the doors. Your wizard eye moves forward, and gets to the door. As it comes to the doors, *bonk*. It stops, unable to go through. You use the wizard eye to look through the rubble, and you find the hallway beyond clean. The rubbled area is actually bricked off with smaller black granite, so that it is the end of a hallway. (behind which is the rubble and the rest of the hallway) This hallway is clean, and decorated with strange drawings in white chalk, all over the walls. You see the hallway stretch off and different doorways. As you watch, a young girl in a white smock walks comes out a door and walks down the hallway. She is barefoot. (much like the servants who were bringing food earlier).
Finally you go back to the throne room. The council is still in, they seem to have hardly moved at all, as they continue to talk, and eat, and drink. You cast tongues.
The snake headed man to Sharaka, "But our spies say that they are obvlivious to the whole thing."
Sharaka, "Issus, do not be fooled. We have always known races that sit idle for generations but can still summon considerable force. Do not forget the lesson we learned from the Hyuctor."
The spider woman to Sharaka, "Issus is not saying that we should not be cautious. He is just saying that the resources we have assigned to them may be better used elsewhere."
Sharaka, "I do not think so. We have already made several key blunders in this whole matter. We all know this. I will not have us make another one. We must be assured that we stomp out these smaller powers, so that they do not come back and bite us in the leg."
Jackal man to table, "I think that Sharaka is correct in this matter. Though these sea creatures seem harmless, they are still of the elves, and one of our gravest miscalculations was the elves. I do not think we should divert any resources from this endevour."
(silence about the table)
Sharaka, "We will hold a vote on this matter. All in favour of maintaining the current resource allocation for the sea elves of middle sea, say aye." 6 of the members say aye, Issus and the spider woman do not. Sharaka, "They aye's have it. Next we have ... the matter of Unther. Glordathukar, how do we fare there?"
Glordathukar, "Well. With Gilgeam's Avatar destroyed, he has fled into his capital city and hides. We have been able to infilitrate his numbers. Already we have unrest. The army has seen an increase in deserters. There was a rebel burning of a village which we are concentrating on. We hope to begin working the local populace up to a frenzy. They know that something bad has happened to their king, and we are spreading rumours quickly. We have a couple candidates for rebellious leaders."
Sharaka, "Everything there seems in order. There is still the matter of...."
(the world shudders and shakes, and then finally settles with an odd rumble.)
With a dramatic poof of smoke, a man appears in the air, 4 feet above the table, and falls. He lands with a crash, dishes and food splattering in different directions. The floor is littered with debris, including food, dishes, and a few small metal objects. All of the large beings stand at once, and stare down in shock at the sprawling human.
Issus reaches across the table, and places a scaly hand upon the mans head. He squirms for a moment, then is still. They all stand silently and watch Issus for a couple minutes. Then Issus speaks, "He is from Earthsea. It has been destroyed. Earthsea is Dwervalerimal's?"
The elephant man, "He may be dead."
The jackal, "The second."
Issus, "This is a threat to us. To our very power. Fate must meet and discuss this."
Sharaka, "I will go on our behalf. The rest of you, make sure you accelerate the attacks on Toril."
Issus, "Quite, we must end this threat quickly, it is our prime concern. We gludtkar damloelam......" (tongues wears off)
You sneak out of the palace and make your way through the city. On the way, you see a large number of parties gawking in the streets. Stopping to hear the news, you find that apparently a large number of people appeared suddenly all throughout town. At first it was thought to be an invasion, but now it is merely many lost souls, thrown from their own world, which apparently ripped apart. The only religion here is that of Sharaka. Though she is called a daughter of Fate (as far as you can tell, people take this to mean exactly what anyone else would, that the idea of Fate somehow resulted in her becoming a god). You head south and find a smaller town a few hour away, and set up shop, renting a small place. You magic mirror Kendrick. You are unable to find him. You attempt the others and see them marching double file across a desert. They look hot and miserable. You see a new person with them. A very attractive young female, with white skin and dark hair. She seems to not mind the heat as much as the others.
Chapter 26 - In a Small Corner of the World...
The party awaited Gorvagio's return. 3 days later he returned to tell the party that the warder had given him a 'tracking' device to find her with, since she had fled her keep to continue her experiments elsewhere. The parties new orders were to kill her. Thorlin suggested to the party that the warder of roke is a puppet of the Gyshin, and if they want to kill her, perhaps they should try to find out more about her, and try to talk to her. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
They investigated her lab, and found that she was researching teleport like spells. They learned that she fire traps her spell books. Leaving there, they began to track her down. The next day she had moved, so they headed off again. The next day she had moved again, so they headed off again. The next day they scryed upon her, and she felt them. After that, the tracking device stopped working, and they could no longer scry on her. So, failing their task, they go back to the warder of roke.

There, they explained the situation, and he made them go sit in a room. A few minutes passed, and then the room faded away, and they were in a grassy field, with a cabin on the edge of a forest near by. They went to the cabin and knocked on the door. A womans voice asked for them to wait. Finally, the Queen opens the door. She talked to them for a short time, where they revealed their will to fight the Gyshin, and she revealed her experiments to try to escape this Gyshin world. Elric and Thorlin had a small fit, and Marienne cast silence on Elric, at which point he walked away. A few minutes passed, and then bad things happened. A fireball exploded, and a fight broke out. Elric returned shouting something about being in an illusion, and everybody went every which way. A few nasty spells later, and Thorlin is hit by a powerful mind attack. Then Wolanin identifies an invisible foe, and the party coverges. The invisible creature is fireballed and sliced and diced, and then as it creates a null magic field to protect itself, a huge boulder appears above it and crushes it. As the ghostly spirit form of the Gyshin emerges, the paladin steps forward with his blazing holy avenger and cuts the thing into obvlivion. The Queen appeared at this time. "Wow, you killed it. Well, I guess we have a few minutes before this universe rips itself apart..." Explaining, apparently some Gyshin have their own worlds, where they run things, and some of them give up their forms to become powerful quasy creatures (like the giant liver). When they are killed, their worlds collapse, or so she's heard. But the tiny Gyshin universes are all interconnected, so hopefully we'll just be thrown into another one, she says. At that point, the sky begins to flicker.
