Chapter 11 - Light’s Shadow

So, the ambush went very badly and if it wasn't for the elves passing through Ordulin on this same night, and coming to help, the assassin would have killed them all. As it was, he dealt mortal wounds to Mip and Arvid, and only after his powers had been used up and other powers, mages, and clerics from the city were responding to the threat, did he flee with the feebleminded Xej, for who knows what reason.

Chapter 12 - United We Stand

So, Arvid (Dan) was killed in a massive fireball, Mip (Nathan) was killed in the same fireball, and all others managed to survive. Olla has joined the party, as well a minatour named Thorlin. They have somewhat recovered from their injuries, and Xej has his mind back. Another person, a scribe (Rob II) has also joined in hopes to stay with the legendary heros. So, in Sembia they plan their method of attack and defense. They all agree that they must unite every force there is to stand against this foe. They also realize they must find information about this foe. Olla has told them all about the portals and names of the ancient rune teleporters.

Here they are :

Southern Mulhorand - "Abazoloth" (open ruins)

Central Kara-Tur – "Abinncor" (center of new Gyshin city Abinncor)

Eastern Kara-Tur - "Gzleth" (city built on top, cathedral basement leads to it)

Maztican - "Marzin" (inside a huge temple)

Central Cormanthor - "Tretos" (an archway in some ruins)

Sword Coast - "Vivorus" (in UnderMountain, built in these ruins)

Central Anauroch - "Cithilus" (buried in sand)

Moutains of Western Cormyr – "Sithian" (ruins in caves)

So, hopefully knowledge of these ruins will help the PC’s.

Chapter 13 - Abinncor

The PC’s, with Olla’s help, have travelled to Abinncor, where old ruins once stood, but now a huge flourishing city now stands. This is one of the Gyshin’s newest cites. The city has an inner city, which is surrounded by grand walls, and all of the gates have watchers and the walls are roamed by watcher spirits. The outer city is somewhat more poor, and beyond the shanty town of the slaves is the farm land and slave farms.

The PC’s, using Olla’s help, entered the city and walked around, getting a feel for the system. The Gyshin social system is set upon rank. From white to black, following Karate grading system. White are common slaves and workers. Yellow are skilled artisans, and slave managers and workers. Orange are the master artisans, and higher ranking managers. Green are general social leaders, such as mayors and such. Blue are the warrior caste. Brown are the war generals, thinkers, managers, and planners. They help make everyday battle preparations, manipulate food and provision placement, and command troops. Magic users are also in the brown level. Finally, black is reserved to mark Gyshin from the rest of the population.

The outside of the town is for blue and lower. There is a large warrior caste section, as well as the huge workman section. There is an inner shell, reserved for the browns, broken up into mages, priests, and commanders. Finally there is the inner sanctum, reserved only for Gyshin, and their leader, Fate.

The PC’s, with their priest (after defeating a bug that followed them through, whose discovered body with sprout tales of giant grasshoppers being grown on farmer benson’s farm, because of some strange magic he’s been using to grow his plants…) have returned to Sembia, and slept a peaceful night after revealing what has happened to all.

With the lord as their servant, they have decided to put a careful watch on the church of Fate, to discover their purpose, but not to disband them instantly. (keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer)

Now they plan to travel to Chondath to determine what exactly is up with this church of Fate.

Chapter 14 - Unexpected Allies

In this chapter, a messenger comes to Sembia right before the PC’s leave. Chancellor Riva sees him, and finds out that Steven Cormyr has been banished from Cormyr forever, to the city of Westgate, on his word that he will not return. It also states that Lyorn Zambedia is the new crown king of Cormyr. He states that he needed to take control, because Steven was wasting resources on a distant land, when a great evil threatens Cormyr, and indeed, all of the land. The note then warned that, what he was about to hear may sound odd, but Lyorn has made alliances with a desert race, as well as a secret alliance with the Goblin empire. The orcs, are, as of yet, staying neutral, but have shown willingness to behave, and perhaps help. The elves are unresponsive.

But, to the nature of the danger. A race known as the Gyshin have invaded this world, using the force of warrior slaves, that they have taken from other worlds that they have taken over. The Gyshin are said to be supremely powerful, however no one can say for sure what their powers consist of. No sign has been seen of this invading army yet, but he has reliable sources that say a foreign land, far across the sea to the west, has already been conquered by them. As well, it is known that all of the ancient and distant land known as Kara-Tur, has also been taken over by them. The dwarves of 3 homes have not yet responded to his requests for aid, but he has managed to get the elemental clerics of both air and water to help his cause. Earth and fire refuse to side with him, because of his use of the air and water clerics. They stay neutral to the situation however.

These Gyshin, however, they do more than just force slaves to attack, they infiltrate and break down countries from inside first. He knows this first hand. It was necessary to kill several of the powerful people in Cormyr, because he suspected them of being infiltrators.

I have no idea how long it will be before the armies get here, but it would be best to be ready. I have sent messengers everywhere. We need to prepare. We are poorly prepared, and must be ready to defend ourselves at any time.

I have sent you one of my most trusted new servants. Please treat him with deference. He however is on a quest, and will not stay with you long. Thank you.

The PC’s, leaving Xej and Gortagio in Sembia, have left for Chondath to research the true purpose of the church of Fate.
